Your fingers hastily flip the last hidden switch of the puzzle box. You hear a satisfying click and almost throw it onto the sand in your excitement to observe what happens next. A new opening is revealed as the dragon inlay mechanically recedes into the puzzle box with a corkscrew motion. It jolts to a stop at the bottom and for a split-second, something catches your eye. You’d swear you saw the image that looks like articulate like a button being pressed by an invisible finger. Before you can question if you imagined it, a glorious Platinum coin ascends from the depths of the box by an unseen force. In disbelief and amazement, you watch it climb to its zenith as if by magic or magnetism. Still hanging in mid-air, your Platinum coin is caught up in a slow spin, as if driven by the many gears on the sides of the octangular puzzle box below. Now observing the coin itself, you find yourself enraptured in awe of the beauty and craftsmanship before you. It even seems to transform the light upon it into a kind of revelation. Somehow you know that the light upon it is from a distant sun, and with that light comes more revelation. The coin bears the same image as the sea dragon on the box. Platinum is a rare and ductile precious metal mined in the Thunderhead Mountains. It’s especially used in the complex circuitry of intelligent artifacts from the shores beyond the Great Sea, most notably in the intelligent armor of Warriors and Guardians. The coin’s brilliant surface is adorned with gems coving the full spectrum of visible light. Each precious gem is arranged by hue in a perfect color wheel. In darkness, you see details in the coin’s surface radiate with that same brilliant band of color. The turning coin reveals ancient runes engraved on its crisp edge. All you know about their meaning is that it’s “knowledge both lost and revealed in time”. The coin turns its other face toward your enchanted eyes and reveals a stunning Platinum Skull Relic. At the sight of it you feel the very blood in your veins throb in horror. You see a great forest spirit imprisoned within the skull of an undead Lich ─ now lost to both the creatures of the underworld who tried to harness her power and her allies of the wood who would help her to be freed once more. Somehow you feel an extreme sense of sympathy for her and wonder if perhaps you are the one who can find her and free her. Perhaps this is why the Dark Horse has been spotted once again. “An Ent is immune to the dark toxicity of this enigmatic relic; all others are enslaved by it.” You begin to take in your surroundings and now know for sure that you’re not alone in this strange place and that you are destined to return someday. With that revelation, you find yourself reading the description of a digital asset on Theta blockchain back on earth and left with more questions than answers. Was that merely your imagination, or was it something more? It feels more like a memory of what you actually observed.
